Under 8 Blades Junior football team fundraiser

Fundraiser in aid of the Blackpool Under 8 Blades Junior football team. The boys in the football squad are raising funds so that the full squad can take part in a big football tournement in Wales in May. Money raised on the night will also be shared with Brian House Trust. The event will host an array of Junior and senior talented performers and is co ordinated by Anne Bibby and Colette Fairbanks.

John Barrowman , the multi-talented star of stage and screen on both sides of the Atlantic, will headline four fantastic shows across the UK this summer. Following several sell out tours and hit albums, John will once again prove why he is one of the UK’s most versatile and treasured artists with this new show at the new Tower Festival Headland on Saturday 23rd June 2012.

John had an incredible 2011, with Torchwood making him a prime time star in the US. He also released a Greatest Hits album with Sony, presented a new series of ‘Tonight’s The Night’ for the BBC, toured the UK in his sell out concert and wrote a children’s book, ‘Hollow Earth’, which received great critical acclaim. And 2012 is already proving to be a vintage year with the filming under way for a new prime time TV drama in the US, ‘Gilded Lilys’.

The concert on the Tower Festival Headland is one of only 4 UK dates that John Barrowman will perform at during 2012, the Blackpool date is penultimate night of the tour which will see the performer visit Scarborough, Glasgow and London.

The Blackpool concert will be a ‘Picnic by the Seaside’ on the newly developed Tower Festival Headland with concert goers invited to bring their own seating and picnics. A small number of premium deckchair seats will also be available.

The brand new concert will see John Barrowman perform to at least 5,000 concert goers on the brand new Tower Festival Headland. The concert announcement comes on the back of the already stellar line up of performers announced for the headland this summer, including UK heart-throb boy bands The Wanted and McFly.

The new concert will be presented by promoters Cuffe & Taylor who will also be presenting the pop concert on Sunday 24th June.

Tickets for the show go on sale at 9am on Tuesday 3rd April. Tickets are priced at from £30.

Fylde’s Got Talent

The annual Fylde’s Got Talent competition is upon us and performers from the FY postcode area are being sought to showcase their talents. The lucky winner(s) will perform on the same stage as the headline act for the Sunday night of The Lytham Proms Festival Weekend 2012. The competition, now in its fourth year has got bigger and better and the new organisers, Cuffe & Taylor are hoping that this year will be no exception. As a result of winning last year’s competition Lucy Ella has gone from strength to strength, performing to 5000 people at the Lytham Proms Festival Weekend 2011, headlined by Boyzone. A spokesperson for the new organisers Cuffe & Taylor said “We were approached by the previous organisers to see if we wanted to run the competition otherwise it was not going to run in 2012. We ran something similar last year called Fylde’s Got the Rock Factor, and the winning band Next Stop Atlanta won the opportunity to perform as the warm-up act for Status Quo. We are doing something different on the Friday night this year and this negates the need for a warm up act, which unfortunately meant we could not run Fyldes got the Rock Factor in 2012, so we were more than happy to pick up the gauntlet of this well established talent competition to showcase the brilliant local talent and give the winner the opportunity to perform on the Sunday night at Lytham Proms Festival Weekend 2012. The competition is looking for all types of performers – singers, dancers, musicians, magicians and comedians – all encouraged to take part whether soloists, duos, bands or groups. Smash Hits for Local DJ’s and recording artists

Talented young Blackpool DJ Danny Sims, has recently teamed up with business partner Dave Bear to rekindle an old Dancefloor Smash “Don’t You Want Me?” which was a big Dance Hit in various UK clubs in the summer of 2008/9 which was very well covered by DJ Dave Bear and JoJo Savage, two very well known local Entertainers, the track also reached number 12 in the Euro Dance Charts. Dave and JoJo also made a few other dance tracks which were also successful, however since this, JoJo has took time out her busy career to start a new family, and Dave has been involved in various projects, as well as organising daytime Entertainment at BAR19 on Queen Street, Hosting Events, Charity work for Brian House Childrens Cancer Centre, and even helping out on his friends’ travelling Circus, not to mention his DJing and Karaoke Shows! Danny heard the track for the first time and said it needed a new lease of life, and has remastered and reworked it, with a lot more beats, horns, sirens and chants from clubbers, which gives the track a whole new feel for the Dancefloors of 2012. Danny is also working with various other tracks at the moment including “Caravan on Love” the old 1986 Housemartins favourite, and he has also recently produced an album called “Everlasting” featuring local blind girl, Brooke Talbot. Dan and Dave are currently working on new ideas and new concepts in the Entertainment Business – Watch This Space!
